Dr. Dre is back: Die Legende mit seinem neuen Album “Detox”

Mittlerweile ist ein ganzes Jahrzehnt ins Land gezogen seitdem Dr. Dre erstmals etwas von einem ominösen Album namens „Detox“ berichtet hatte. In der Zwischenzeit ist eine Menge passiert, so hat Dr. Dre mit Eminem zusammengearbeitet und auch hier ließ ein neues Album lange, lange auf sich warten…

…irgendwann hat Eminem aber die Kurve gekriegt, daran waren Dr. Dre und 50 Cent nicht ganz unschuldig, beide haben dem Rapper in den letzten Jahren beim Produzieren der neuen Alben geholfen. Eigentlich eine Ironie, dass Dr. Dre Eminem auf die Beine hilft, selber aber keinen Fuß auf den Boden bekommt. „Detox“ verkam zur Legende und eigentlich rechnete auch niemand mehr damit, dass dieses Album wirklich erscheinen würde.

Nun aber, aller Unkenrufe zum Trotz, gibt es nun ein neues musikalisches Lebenszeichen, wenn man auch traurig hinterherschieben muss, dass es das letzte Zeichen sein wird. Dre kündigte nämlich an auf seinem neuen Album „Detox“ zum letzten Mal ein Mikrofon in die Hand genommen zu haben.
Zu deutlich aber überwiegt die Freunde über DIE HipHop-Sensation des Jahres: Dr. Dre ist zurück und schickt mit der neuen Single „I Need A Doctor“ feat. Eminem und Skyler Grey eine erste Botschaft raus.

Dres ausgeprägter Hang zum Perfektionismus und das daraus resultierende Warten ist zugleich Thema der Single. Eminem ist es, der im Verlauf der Single die Rollen vertauscht und seinen einstigen Mentor dazu auffordert, nun doch endlich wieder an seine Skills als Rapper und Producer zu glauben und die Katze aus dem Sack zu lassen. Das tut Dr. Dre schließlich auch und wenn Skyler Grey im eingängigen Hook nach „dem Doktor“ verlangt, wird einem klar, warum Produzent Alex da Kid den Song schon im Vorfeld als „die wahrscheinlich größte Nummer der letzten zehn Jahre“ bezeichnet hat.
„Es hat zwar lange gedauert und ich wollte die ganze Sache immer wieder hinschmeißen, aber inzwischen bin ich mit den Resultaten absolut zufrieden“, kommentierte Dre die Arbeit am kommenden Longplayer, der nun voraussichtlich im April erscheinen wird. Jedoch sei „Detox“ wohl die letzte Platte, für die er ein Mikrofon in die Hand nehmen wird. Die erste Single „I Need A Doctor“ erschien am 4. Februar, allerdings nur als E-Release (Download via Amazon).
