Morgen ist es soweit: Die neue Single von Alicia Keys wird veröffentlicht. Bei dem Song handelt es sich um das Stück „Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down, die dritte Auskopplung aus dem Album „Element of Freedom“. Großbritannien hatte schon das Vergnügen und katapultierte das Ding für Monate in die Top Ten.
Schon 2009 begeisterte Alicia gemeinsam mit Rapper Jay-Z mit dem Song „Empire State of Mind“ die Massen. Die Hymne auf New York hielt sich fünf Wochen an der Spitze der US-Charts und wurde mit Dreifach-Platin ausgezeichnet. In der jetzigen Version allerdings fehlen Rap-Parts und HipHop-Beats – Alicia kann die Soul-Komponente voll ausspielen, ohne das Flair des „Big Apple“ aus dem Blick zu verlieren.
Seit Beginn ihrer Karriere im Jahr 2001 hat sich die 29-jährige Sängerin und Songwriterin zu einem Weltstar entwickelt und kann schon 12 Grammys ihr eigen nennen; mit „Empire State of Mind“ hat sie ihrer Heimatstadt New York ein individuelles Denkmal gesetzt.
